Couples counselling in London
Has communication broken down?
Have conversations with your partner become stuck? Perhaps tensions are building and closeness is being eroded. You feel frustrated, unheard and confused. This tension might flare up quickly and errupt into arguments, or simmer away in extended punishing silences.
Relationships evolve through natural stages and couples frequently get stuck navigating these changes. One partner might want things to stay as they were, the other may long for something different but struggle to put these feelings into words without the other feeling rejected.
Couples therapy can help you take a step back, identify the patterns, understand the emotional triggers driving them, the significance to each partner, and why a seemingly insignificant issue for one person can be overwhelming for another.
My Approach
Drawing on Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and the Bader-Pearson model of couple development, my approach blends curiosity, empathy, and insight along with appropriate challenge to support lasting, meaningful change. Areas of focus include: recognising and shifting unhelpful patterns in communication; resolving challenging relationship dynamics; understanding self-defeating emotional patterns; exploring the deeper roots of current struggles.
Whether working with individuals or with couples, my approach is collaborative and grounded in understanding your unique circumstances. I aim to support you make sense of what feels difficult or unclear, and to find a way forward that feels right for you. We will pay attention to the emotional, relational and wider context of your experience, while staying connected to what is happening in the present moment of our work together.
